On this new album André Charbonneau presents his latest compositions for flamenco guitar. His style is personal and mature, sincere and essential.The art of flamenco is one that penetrates deeply into the heart and leaves no one indifferent. André Charbonneau’s encounter with flamenco turned his life upside down. ‘I gave up everything for flamenco. "Encouraged by Paco Pena, he packed his bags and left for Spain. He settled in Andalusia, in Cordoba. "Flamenco became my adoptive culture." He had decided to live in the very heart of that strong tradition, in which guitarists play by instinct. Vicente Amigo, Manuel de Palma, José Antonio Rodriguez and Paco Serrano all shared their experience and artistry with him.
He soon felt a desire to create his own musical language, and on his return from Spain, he launched into a career as a guitarist, notably with the duo Guadalquivir, with his wife, who is a dancer. The flamenco album "Guadalquivir", released in 1992 (subsequently re-released under the title "Spain - Flamenco guitar", CD Air Mail Music), was acclaimed by the press in both France and Spain. ‘His original pieces are inspired by the most varied forms of buler’as, tangos, rumbas » This is pure flamenco !" André Charbonneau also explores other areas, including songs and film music, and he collaborates with others on many artistic projects. His career and his work have been rewarded by La Fondation de France and La Sacem, amongst others. André Charbonneau has found his place on the French music scene, as is shown by the success of his latest one-man show, in which he plays and relates his flamenco, and much more as well
