Tenzin Namgyal is a talented singer and multi-instrumentalist from the Tibetan community in Boudanath near Kathmandu in Nepal. He received his first musical inspirations from his grandfather Pema Dorjee, who himself was a Tibetan Opera dancer.
In the years 2000 - 2002 he studied in Dharamsala at the Tibetan Institute of Performing Arts (TIPA), where he honed his performing skills.
Today he is a professional musician and a teacher of traditional Tibetan dance, music and drama. He released 7 CDs between 2004 and 2010, of which the current CD is a compilation with traditional repertoire from Central Tibet (Ü-Tsang). Tenzin plays dranyen (Tibetan guitar), yangchin (hammered dulcimer), piwang (spike fiddle), nga (drum) and bubchal (cymbals).
Recorded at Studio Music Nest in Boudanath, Kathmandu, Nepal.
