Serge Gainsbourg is nothing short of a national hero in France, a legend across Europe, and a musical cult figure in the UK.
Gainsbourg (Vie Heroique) is the bio-pic that has packed French cinemas since January. The film is about the life of the French singer/songwriter/composer from growing up in 1940s Nazi-occupied Paris through his successful international songwriting years in the 1960s to his death in 1991 at the age of 62.
Tragically the British actress Lucy Gordon who plays Jane Birkin in the Film committed suicide in Paris before the film was released.
The Original Soundtrack recording includes the notorious world-wide hit ‘Je T’aime…Moi Non Plus’ sung by Gainsbourg and Jane Birkin, and new recordings by the cast and musical guests. Like the film, the soundtrack has been hugely well received in France.
