Un Traguito Más explores the dramatic qualities of popular songs from Latin America and the lands of the Mediterranean. Adrienne Winling’s warm, deep voice interacts thrillingly with the bold, sensitive playing of Antoine Girard, accordion. The singer recounts fables, takes on di_ erent roles through a multiplicity of languages, timbres and accents. The accordion becomes orchestral, enveloping the voice in a sensual musicality. Sometimes sober and subtle, sometimes powerful, ‘organic’, it navigates between exalted countermelodies, percussive rhythms and harmonic play, while now and again indulging in improvisations full of feeling. With the album Adondequiera the duo brings to life moving tales of ordinary men and women faced with joy, love, grief or jealousy. Together these unique songs, carried by the fascinating minimalism of the voice and the accordion, weave a picture of human fragility, yet vibrancy. We move from laughter to tears; the songs are sometimes heart-breaking, sometimes funny or pathetic, and often nostalgic.
